All you ever need to know about La Gloria Cubana Brand Cigars

The La Gloria Cubana cigars are among the oldest Cuban cigars. The Sociedad Cabanas y Castro created the brand in 1885 and sold it twenty years later, in 1905 to Jose F. Rocha. Rocha moved the production of the brand to his Havana factory.

After the death of Rocha in 1954, the La Gloria Cubana brand was purchased by the Cifuentes family, who also purchased the Bolivar brand. Manufacturing of the cigars was transferred to the Paragas Factory, where the cigars are still produced to this day. The brand became a very popular export.

Production of the La Gloria Cubana cigars stopped for a few years ofter the Cuban Revolution, and then resumed once again around 1965. Production quantities are lower than other brands, however the brand remains very popular with cigar aficionados, the Medaille d’Or No. 2 is a particular favorite vitola.

There are currently two La Gloria Cubana vitolas produced by machine: the Purito and the Mini.
